Dec.-03: Dr. Glorieux will sponsor Marco Vinicio of Ecuador.

12-12-03: María Barbero deposited 120 euros to cover the treatment with pamidronate for 6 months of their godson Alejandro of Ecuador

10-12-03: Julian Font Gonzalo made a deposit of 300 euros to cover the 2004 treatment with pamidronate and various necessities the Abigail of Ecuador.

4-12-03: Anna Becerra, godmother of Marghori of Peru, made a transfer of 120 euros for the treatment of the girl.

4-12-03: In her presentation of the FEOI project in the Congress of AHUCE, Lucia Travez presented an elaborate DVD with images and testimonies of mothers and children with OI. This audiovisual document which has a big impact, was distributed to the godparents of Ecuadorian children. Thanks to Jose Antonio and Rafael for their collaboration in copying the material, verifying that each DVD works, making the covers, and handling the shipping.

4-12-03: Dr. Parra and his wife Mercedes Viudes will sponsor Nicolas of Ecuador. They deposited 120 euros to cover the semestral treatment with pamidronate.

2-12-03: Tere Ahedo did two things: 120 euros for the treatment of Rosa del Alba, her Peruan goddaughter, and 50 euros for the campaign of Ecuador. Thanks also to her mother, Marí Teresa Arias Carracedo who solidified the situation of the Ecuadorian children and donated another 50 euros for the operations of the month of January.

1-12-03- Kathia Rolando Hurtado and Lucia Travez, coordinators of the program of godparents in Peru and Ecuador received several transfers from the following godparents.
For the children of Peru:

  • 60 euros from Granada for Kely Nicole( Treatment of 3 months with pamidronate)

  • 120 euros from Ana Becerra for Marghori (Treatment of 6 months with pamidronate)

  • 300 euros from Tina Parcero for Luis Alberto(240 euros for the teatment of 1 year with pamidronate and 60 euros for other necessities that the child may have)

  • 150 euros from Araceli and Jose for Ronald (120 for the 6 month treatment with pamidronate and 30 euros for other necessities

Total shipped to Katia Rolando Hurtado:630 euros


For the Ecuadorian children:

  • 60 euros from Adria for Patricio(3-month treatment with pamidronate)

  • 120 euros from Susana Barquilla and Isabel Reina for Jonathan(6-month treatment with pamidronate)

  • 54 euros from Gloria Alvarez for Bernardo(3-month treatment with pamidronate)

  • 54 euros from Miguel Angel and Monse for Samantha(3-month treatment with pamidronate)

  • 100 euros from Linda Edwards for Abigail( treatment and other necessities)

  • 20 euros from Yvonne Hagelstein for Briseida Massón( 1-month treatment with pamidronate)

  • 120 euros Hans and Vero Gaedke for Luis (6-month treatment with pamidronate)

  • 250 euros from Jose María and María Angeles for Erik Mora( 1-year treatment with pamidronate)

  • 20 euros from Anna for Erika Massón (1-month treatment with pamidronate)

  • 120 euros from María Barbero for Ronnie Salcedo( 6month treatment with pamidronate)

Total shipped to Lucia Travez: 918 euros


Various godparents and people connected to OI have made deposits for the Ecuadorian campaign which we have transferred to the president of the FEOI:

  • 50 euros from Pablo Badía

  • 100 euros from Mr. Katz, godfather of Javiera

  • 30 euros from Jose María, María Angeles, and Jose Manuel Benedí

  • 60 euros from Susana Barquilla and Isabel Reina


Total transferred for the company “SOS Ecuador”: 240 Euros

During the last few days of November, December, and January of 2004, we made a special campaign intended to collect funds for the operations that the well known Dr. Fassier will perform for the Ecuadorian children. 30-11-03: María Barbero deposited 120 euros for the treatment with pamidronate of Ronnie, her Ecuadorian godson

26-11-03: We received from Germany a donation of 20 euros from Yvonne for Erika and another 20 euros from Anna for Briseida, two Ecuadorian sisters. These godparents, recently incorporated into the program will make monthly deposits of 20 euros.

25-11-03: Susana and Isabel deposited 120 euros for the treatment with pamidronate of Jonathan their Ecuadorian godson.

24-11-03: Granada deposited 60 euros for the treatment of Kelly from Peru.

19-11-03: Linda, godmother of Abigail translated to English the pages of godparents. Many thanks for your collaboration!!

18-11-03: Adriá Vidal contributed 60 euros for treatment for the child they are sponsoring in Ecuador, Patricio. Thank you!!!

11-11-03: Verónica and Hans Gaedke contributed 120 euros for treatment for the child they are sponsoring in Ecuador, Luis Felipe. Thank you!!!

29-10-03: José María, María Ángeles and Silvia –their 4 year old daughter- contributed 250 euros for Erick’s yearly treatment with pamidronate. Thank you!!!

27-10-03: Alicia Barbero contributed 300 euros, which were given personally to Lucía Trávez, for treatment during 2004 for little Raquel, from Ecuador.

25-10-03: Lucía Trávez’s participation in the AHUCE Congress turned out to be very positive for the programme:
-> Lucía brought with her a DVD containing an excellent documentary produced by the FEOI concerning how OI affects children and their families in their own setting and country. It is professional and very realistic, but extremely heart warming. It will mailed to the sponsors of Ecuadorian children in November.
 
-> Several people contacted Lucía and María to sponsor Ecuadorian children.
The following are already confirmed: Dr José Ignacio Parra will be sponsoring Marco Vinicio; José María and María Ángeles will be sponsoring Erik; María Barbero will be sponsoring Ronnie, staring with the December application; Hans and Verónica, a couple living in Germany, will be sponsoring Luis Felipe; Ivonne and Anna, also from Germany, will be sponsoring Érika and her sister Briseida.

-> We received another 110 euro donation from Mr Rob Van Welzenis, the honorary president of the OIFE. This money was donated to help Ecuadorian children and it was given personally to Lucía Trávez.

-> We have two new helpers for the programme: Elena Montalvo, who has a nephew with OI, has offered to help us by translating into English for our contacts with English-speaking sponsors.
Montserrat, whose daughter is Thalía, a little girl with OI, has offered to correspond in Dutch with a person who has an association in Holland. The idea is that we could refer cases of adults with OI in Latin America there.

Lucía will be giving a brief talks on the progress made in the FEOI and the Foundation’s ultimate goals.

04-10-03: news from Peru!!! Thanks to a donation from Mr Van Welzenis, the honorary president of the OIFE, John, from Peru, has a new customised wheelchair, with a safety belt and a board to help him write and eat.

Marcelito was being sponsored by Adriá, who we thank for his help, his affection and his desire to remain in the programme.

5-3-03: 250 Euros were received that will be used to pay for a year’s treatment with pamidronate for an Ecuadorian girl.

3-3-03: 100 Euros were received that will be used to pay for baby’s equipment for an Ecuadorian girl.

3-3-03: 120 Euros were received that will be used to pay for supplies, baby food and clothing for an Ecuadorian girl.

28-2-03: Two more children with OI have been born to poor families in Ecuador in the last three months. We are looking for sponsors for both of them.

28-2-03: After solving different administrative problems involved in sending the money, we have managed to send a transfer of 1,500.00 euros to the Ecuadorian Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation (FEOI:
http://www.angelfire.com/emo/feoi/), representing the following donations:

120 euros from Susana Reina and her mother to pay for the treatment of the boy they are sponsoring;
240 euros from María Barbero for a year’s treatment with pamidronate for the boy she is sponsoring;
240 euros from Alicia Barbero for a year’s treatment with pamidronate for the girl she is sponsoring;
290 euros from Mr Katz for a year’s treatment with pamidronate and other expenses for the girl he is sponsoring;
375 euros in donations from different people to pay for a year’s treatment with Fosamax (costing one euro a day) for an Ecuadorian child;
235 euros collected by Carmen Ugarte (Spain) from several of her colleagues at work. The money will be used to pay for healthcare material, vitamin and mineral supplements for twenty or so children being cared for by the Foundation.

The bank transfer cost 60 euros but, after applying the exchange rate, 1,519.92 dollars were received by the Foundation.

January, 2003: Thanks to physiotherapy, the boy sponsored by Mauricio Herzberg can now stand.

02-01-03: Donations were received that will be used to pay for a year’s treatment with pamidronate for an Ecuadorian girl.
